Republicans from across Georgia travelled to Washington in order to see Donald J Trump take the oath of office. On January 20, the peaceful transition of power from President Obama to President Trump took place. Here are some of the stories from those that attended:
Rachel Norton: I attended. We couldn’t get in the Mall area bc protesters were blocking all the entrances. We walked to 3 different security check points before we realized it was happening at all entrances. The police finally snuck us through a gate to security – so at least we made it to the parade. The news is reporting there was a low turn-out for the crowd, but in all actuality thousands of people were stuck outside the Mall area having our freedom and rights to attend the inauguration taken from us!
Ivan Dickson: I attended and had a great time! However We were in north standing and we were packed in like cattle. Made the best of it!
M Joanie Dickson: I had a wonderful time! Well worth being there. The time of my life. God Bless President Trump and his family.
Austin Masters: It was a great experience! We arrived at the capital at about 6 am and the lines were already forming. There were about 400 people there before us. After we went thought security, we found our spot on the lawn and waited. Everything was right on time and executed perfectly! You could just feel the excitement in the crowd. I met a lot of great people out there, who just wanted to see the American people put first for once. I believe Donald Trump’s speech was my favorite part though. I have never seen an entire crowd react so positively to one man’s words. Such a great experience and I would encourage anyone to go to one if you get a chance.
Malua Young: Yes we did attend this monumental and historical event. I will email my comments and photos. It was awesome!
Elaine James: The TSA , Secret Service, and law enforcement were professional and courteous. I felt and knew I was protected from any harm. Absolutely no fear, thank you military and law enforcement because people do not realize how hard to regulate so many people, provide safety, and defend people constantly. This is taken for granted. The protesters that I ran into were Black Lives Matter but they were not mean to me or anybody I had seen. It was the first time I saw a “human chain” in this fashion. There was no violence just chanting and singing from them. The best thing was the swearing in ceremony. I truly loved President TRUMP ‘s speech especially “we all bleed red” and the invocation used God and in Jesus name. I cried about both points because it touched my heart and spirit.. When Trump came up to speak, then you could see the sun rising behind the clouds. God was here. I want to thank the 58th Inaugural Committee, President TRUMP, Vice President Mike PENCE and all the leaders and constituents for a wonderful and blessed time!
Brandon Roberts: I had the great honor of attending the inauguration. It was an awesome experience to be able to witness the swearing in of our 45th President. The highlight of the trip for me was standing on the national mall and be able to witness history in the making firsthand.
